Free energy is controversial among scientists but numerous investigations have shown this to be real. Free energy generators work by extracting energy from the surroundings in a manner which is not completely understood. As a result, these generators produce “overunity”, i.e. produce more energy than they consume. However, these are not perpetual mobiles due to fact that the energy is extracted from the surroundings – e.g. from magnetic or gravitational fields – as is the case with wind mills or solar panels, only the energy sources are different.

Free energy generators are built on different technologies. Some are variations of electro motors powered by electrical pulses but of more commercial interest are generators without moving parts. One example is the Thane Heines generator consisting of three coils, one primary and two secondary driven by an AC input to the primary coil. The coils are connected and allow for collection of the reactive energy, which appears in the secondary coils due to the varying magnetic field created in the primary coil. Using this principle a power surplus of 100-250 W may be generated.
